Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

When Pantone releases their new color of the year, designers, planners, color enthusiasts, decorators and all those who have an interest in the creative industry tend to sit up and listen. This year's new pick, Radiant Orchid, is the prettiest or purples, almost a bright lilac shade with a hint of pink.

Something tells me that there is a slim chance newly engaged ladies and gents plan to order up a radiant orchid wedding. I do foresee growth in a the purple category as a whole, bringing back gorgeous shades of plum, ombre details spanning from light lavender to deep blackberry.

The color, when on its own, leans a bit on the feminine side. Paired with a deep gray, midnight navy, even hunter green, would bring the overall color theme back to a more neutral place.

So! New brides to be, hostesses, and fashionable types - how will you incorporate radiant orchid into your life in 2014?

Behind the Scenes: A Winter Wedding in Chandler, AZ

This past weekend I had the opportunity to work with the sweetest couple, who I was introduced to through a bride I worked with last spring. Actually, the groom was the officiant at the Spring wedding! At least I didn't have to worry about his skills speaking in front of a group!

The wedding was held at a private residence, the home of a good friend of the couple. It was a gorgeous venue, with the entire house decorated in holiday ribbons, ornaments, and garland. The house itself was filled with wrought iron details, making for the most gorgeous rustic backdrop. The deepest of reds, gold, silver and bronze echoed through the space and wedding decor, for the prettiest, cozy winter feel.

A few days leading up to the big day, talk of a giant storm struck fear into my heart, as the percent chance of rain that afternoon grew and grew. I said a silent prayer to the wedding gods before bed on Friday night. When I woke on Saturday, as I drove to the venue, I couldn't have been more pleased with the COMPLETELY clear skies! Not a cloud in sight! And the blustery winds slowed to a cool breeze by showtime. How.Lucky,

The bride & groom were beaming the entire day, as we busy bees buzzed from one side of the residence to the other, setting the dessert table, staging the bars & caterer set up, lighting candles and spreading rose petals. The sun began to set and it was time for the bride to reveal herself to the crowd. The groom beamed, as iphones snapped, the photographer ran to capture those first looks, and of course tears started to well up. I just love my job.

Congratulations D + S! Cheers to endless years of happiness, continued celebrations, and love. It was an absolute joy working with you.

Gobble Gobble

Happy Monday, friends! Whether you celebrated Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, Black Friday/the official start of the Christmas season, Small Business Saturday, or all of the above like we did, I hope your holiday weekend was magical! Here is a little peek into our turkey day --

I wanted the table to incorporate different reds, the deeper fall shades that arrive with a chill in the air. If only we had a few beloved maple trees in this dry desert state, I would have loved to use real leaves! Thank goodness for Michael's.
